Low Vision & Myopia Management
Dr. Patrick B. Curran is a partner optometrist at Johnson Curran Optometry, where he provides comprehensive eye care across all six practice locations. A Blacksburg native, Dr. Curran graduated from Blacksburg High School before earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Augusta University (GA).
While at Augusta University, Dr. Curran was a scholarship athlete on the men’s basketball team. He went on to earn his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Indiana University School of Optometry. During optometry school, he completed externships in Pensacola, Florida; Chicago, Illinois; and Louisville, Kentucky.
Dr. Curran practices full-scope primary eye care, with particular emphasis on the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease, contact lens care, dry eye disease, routine vision services, and eyewear. He also oversees the practice’s low-vision and visual therapy examinations.
Beyond patient care, Dr. Curran is actively engaged in optometric advocacy and professional leadership. He serves as Virginia’s Federal Keyperson for the American Optometric Association and as Chair of the Virginia AOA-PAC. He is also a member of the Virginia Optometric Association Board of Trustees and previously served as president of the Southwest Virginia Optometric Society.
