Dr. McDonel
Dr. James McDonel is a 1990 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Optometry. He completed training in advanced clinical practice and ocular disease management in Dayton, Ohio in 1994. His previous experience includes: private optometric practice, an ophthalmology practice in Dayton, Ohio, where he specialized in ocular disease and cataract surgery co-management, and as a Clinical Faculty member of The State University of New York at Buffalo, Department of Ophthalmology.
He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and is a member of the American and Virginia Optometric Associations. Additionally, he is an Eagle Scout and is on the medical staff for the 2019 World Scout Jamboree.
In the community, Dr. McDonel is a Boy Scout Leader, President of the Radford High School Band Boosters, and is Director of Set Design and Construction for the Radford High School Theatre Troupe. He primarily practices in our Christiansburg office.
