About Us
Johnson Curran Optometry Centers, PC has had a long, successful history in Southwest Virginia. The practice was founded by Dr. Ronald Blum in 1977. With the addition of Dr. Miles Newman, it became Blum, Newman, & Associates, PC Optometrists in 1980. Dr. Joe Blackstock joined the partnership in 1983. With the retirement of Dr. Blum in 1996, the practice became Newman, Blackstock and Associates, PC until January 2015 when Drs. Newman and Blackstock sold the practice to two longtime associates, Dr. Michael Johnson and Dr. Patrick Curran. The practice has had the privilege of caring for multiple generations of patients over the past several decades.

Interested in joining our team?
We are always searching for a person who is self-motivated to learn and wants a career helping patients have a terrific experience in our office. We like people who are genuinely interested in assisting patients to improve their quality of life. You must be the type that can provide caring patient service while dispensing high-quality products to our patients. The ability to be trained and motivated to learn a new product is required to become more familiar with optical materials. The ability to read and understand insurance authorizations is a must. You will enjoy this type of work if you are organized, have excellent follow-up, and pay attention to detail. We require people who are dependable and punctual in their work habits to be a part of our team. Our office uses Electronic Health Records; working on a computer will be a big part of your job. Our office is also goal and performance-oriented, so a willingness to be held accountable for results is required. A half-day Saturday and evening work is involved, so flexibility is a must. We offer competitive pay, health insurance, 401k, vacation and holiday pay, and a 40-hour work week. If you are serious about a long-term position in a stable company and fit the description above, we would like to talk to you.
