Dr. Joshua Weller earned both a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois. He went on to earn his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Optometry in 2026.
While in optometry school, Dr. Weller was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. He served as President of the Cornea and Contact Lens Club, held a community outreach leadership role coordinating school vision screenings, and received recognition for excellence in contact lens care. He also participated in multiple Remote Area Medical (RAM) clinics and traveled to Honduras with Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (SVOSH), providing eye care to underserved communities.
During his clinical training, Dr. Weller completed externship rotations at Retina Associates of Kentucky and Vistar Eye Center in Roanoke, Virginia, where he gained experience managing a wide range of ocular conditions. He enjoys providing comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages and has particular interests in dry eye management, contact lenses, primary eye care, and the diagnosis and management of ocular disease. Dr. Weller is passionate about patient education and believes clear communication is essential to delivering exceptional eye care.
Originally from central Illinois, Dr. Weller now calls Southwest Virginia home. Outside the office, he enjoys cooking, singing karaoke, and watching football and Formula 1.
